Concern Worldwide Working with the World's Poorest People to Transform Their Lives.

ABOUT
CONCERN
WORLDWIDE

Concern Worldwide is A global humanitarian NGO tackling the root causes of hunger and extreme poverty

ABOUT US

Concern Worldwide Korea was established in 2015, as the first Asian branch of Concern Worldwide, a humanitarian NGO that works with the world’s poorest people to end extreme poverty. Concern Worldwide has more than 3,900 staff of 50 nationalities, operating in 23 of the world’s poorest countries, helping people to achieve significant and lasting change in their lives.

" Koreans deeply understand from their painful history the singular importance of humanitarian aid. We hope that humanitarian agencies in Korea can come together and take action with us in strengthening communities and peace-building in extremely poor countries. "

Jun Mo Lee, Executive Director,
Concern Worldwide Korea

WHATEVER

IT TAKES

WHAT WE DO

Nutrition and Health/Livelihood

Malnutrition is Preventable.

We focus in particular on reaching mothers and young children in the sub-Saharan region of Africa as well as South Asia. We also support local government and communities to build public health systems providing outpatient therapeutic centers, water supply systems, and hygiene training.

Livelihood Program

Secure livelihoods are a pathway out of poverty.

About 10% of the world’s population live below the global poverty line ($1.90 a day). This figure includes subsistence farmers, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and residents in urban slums. Concern aims to improve the income level and food security of the extremely poor. We focus on agriculture and access to markets. We actively engage in implementing climate smart agriculture, particularly in areas prone to the effects of climate change.

Emergency Response

Helping those affected by humanitarian crises is Concern’s top priority

Lives are destroyed when famine, natural disaster, conflicts, and pandemic diseases strike. Concern is at the forefront during such times of crisis. When an emergency strikes, we are among the first on the ground - mobilizing expert teams in just 24 hours. From hurricanes in Haiti, to famine in South Sudan, we go to the ends of the earth to reach the most vulnerable.

ACTIVITIES

Concern Worldwide believes in the power of humanity, community and equality

Global Hunger Index

The Global Hunger Index, a series of reports jointly published by the Concern Worldwide and Welthungerhilfe, tracks hunger and spotlights those regions and countries where action to address hunger is most urgently needed. Since 2017, Concern Worldwide Korea has hosted The Global Hunger Report every year to share key messages and to find opportunities for humanitarians and interested parties to work together to end global hunger.

“Whatever It Takes” Campaign

Hunger is a silent killer. It affects the world’s most vulnerable people whose lives are effectively on hold while they deal with the debilitating and life threatening effects of hunger. They live in the world’s most disadvantaged areas, poor rural districts, urban slums, and temporary camps which are out of reach of both government and media. Concern Worldwide Korea launched a signature campaign called “Whatever It Takes” to mobilize like-minded supporters who want to see a world without hunger and extreme poverty.

Partnerships for Sustainable Development

The increasingly complex nature of humanitarian emergencies and the varied causes of extreme poverty require the committed engagement of multiple parties including governments, aid agencies and the private sector. We are always ready to engage with individuals, corporate partners, other humanitarian NGOs, as well as local government. We believe in getting the job done and will work with whoever is best placed to help us achieve our mission.
